Once again, our nation is being smeared publicly by the powder puff brigade. It's the tired issue of how terrorists and terrorist suspects allegedly are being mistreated.
The report includes a list of tactics used allegedly in torturing folks being held on terrorism charges. I do not doubt that those being held were and are committed enemies of America, Christianity and any way of life that does not include total submission to the Islamic fanaticism. During the first 20 years of my military career, I was an intelligence specialist and officer. My training included courses in prisoner handling and interrogation techniques. While stationed in the Canal Zone, I conducted two classes on these subjects to officers and NCOs of several Latin American armed forces. While I may be no expert on this matter, I do have credentials.
One of the problems with affluence is that people with liberal educations, too much free time and some deep-seated need to prove themselves holier than everyone else flutter about searching for ways to confirm their own high opinions of themselves. In my mind, these people often are so out of contact with reality that they might as well be living on Mars.
I would bet a dime to a donut that the people responsible for this latest effort to undermine the morale of our warriors have no experience of war, nor have any sons or daughters at risk in the Middle Eastern War Games. That being the case, they have no real stake in the battle to preserve America and Americans safe from the unholy actions of terrorists. Like dogs that bite the hand that feeds them – they express sympathy and support for those who are trying to destroy the very nation that gives them shelter to engage in their unpatriotic activities.
These people, and those who agree with them, likely never have seen what a 7.62x39 bullet will do to a human body. Surely they have never had to pick up body parts of friends who had been blown to pieces by a bomb, nor smelled the awful stench of human body parts rotting in the sun. It is easy for them to not look at warfare through the eyes of a soldier. It is easy for them to condemn those who are charged with uncovering information from those who only a short while ago were doing their very best to kill or maim people, warriors and noncombatants alike, by any means at their disposal.
War is a bloody business and those who engage in it often get bloodied. I do not doubt that some prisoner handlers or interrogators overstepped even the wartime bounds of human decency. However, even these are not our enemy. Our enemies are those Islamic fanatics who voluntarily engage in a war of sniping, suicide bombing, mutilation of captured enemy troops and public decapitation of prisoners.
Those Islamic terrorists perpetrate their abominable acts against their own people as well as Americans who have the misfortune of falling into their hands. Yet, rather than strive to bring an end to the horrors they commit, Americans whose interests appear to often run contrary to those of the other 300-plus millions who populate our nation seek to dismantle and/or dishearten the very Armed Forces that defend their right to prance and preen for the news media.
I remind those who read this that war is not a Tom Hanks movie or a video game in which no one really is harmed. War, by its very nature, involves slaughter and destruction, and those who stand in the lines face very real options to kill or be killed. When they return home from the wars, bearing emotional and/or physical scars that will trouble their dreams for so long as they live, please show as much compassion for them -- America's sons and daughters -- as you do for the monsters who initiated and are continuing these wars.
There is a God in Heaven who will judge all who stand before His court. He is a God who understands war and its effects on men. He is a God who commanded Joshua and the Hebrew nation to kill every human being in the cities of Canaan. He is a God who sent Assyria against recalcitrant Jews and then sent angels to destroy the invading army. He is a compassionate God who sent the Logos to take upon Himself the sin debt of every person who lived or would live on this planet. His justice is perfect. He will judge the Islamic terrorists and those who hold them captive - and everyone who is not washed in the Blood of the Lamb.
I cannot but wonder how many of those who piously condemn the watchers on the wall who protect them will stand accused in His courtroom.
WASHINGTON - Medical examinations of former terrorism suspects held by the U.S. military at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, found evidence of torture and other abuse that resulted in serious injuries and mental disorders, according to a human rights group. - Pamela Hess , Report: Exams prove abuse, torture in Iraq, Gitmo, (C)2008 Associated Press
Come quickly, Lord.
39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.
41 If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
42 I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
43 Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people. - Deuteronomy 32:39-43
